On August 4, 2021, Director Mao Guanglie of the Zhejiang Provincial Intelligent Manufacturing Expert Committee visited Huai’an Nanfang to inspect and assess the progress of smart factory construction. Accompanying him were leaders including Lin Guorong, President of the Shanghai Southern Region; Xu Kunquan, General Manager of Huai’an Nanfang; Yuan Yibin, Chairman of Sinoma Bangye; Zhu Yongzhi, General Manager; as well as the head of Sinoma Bangye’s Huai’an project team.

Smart cement manufacturing! Huai’an Southern Cement has won another award—system-wide digitalization and end-to-end intelligent operations are driving the company’s transformation and upgrading.

Recently, the “Intelligent Control and Management of Cement Production” project of Huzhou Huai’kan Southern Cement Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Huai’kan Southern”) was awarded the First Prize in the 2021 Technological Innovation Awards of China National Building Material Group. To thoroughly implement the Made in China 2025 initiative and advance the digital and intelligent transformation and upgrading of the cement industry, while effectively carrying out the strategic direction for the sustained modernization of the cement business—namely, digitalization, intelligence, green practices, and high-end development—proposed by Chairman Zhou Yuxian of China National Building Material Group, Huai’kan Southern has partnered with Sinoma Bangye (Hangzhou) Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. and Tianjin Cement Industry Design Research Institute Co., Ltd. to establish a deeply collaborative co‑construction model. Guided by the principle of balancing cutting-edge technology with cost-effectiveness, the company is advancing its smart‑manufacturing efforts, thoroughly identifying the digital and intelligent needs of cement production and operations, and exploring a roadmap for the digital and intelligent transformation and upgrading of its production processes.

Entering the Intelligent World of the Cement Industry

In the era of Industry 4.0, “intelligence” has become a buzzword, frequently on everyone’s lips. The widespread adoption of artificial intelligence compels us to confront the profound changes it brings; subtly yet inexorably, we can no longer ignore its impact on advancing society as a whole. The rollout of 5G technology has further ushered in an age of “Internet of Everything,” where connectivity is no longer just a conceptual vision but a tangible reality deeply embedded in modern industry. Across all sectors, companies are embracing smart manufacturing, seeking opportunities amid this unprecedented wave of development and striving to achieve industrial transformation and upgrading. Recently, the General Office of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the “Action Plan for Digital Transformation of Smart Manufacturing in the Building Materials Industry (2021–2023).” By 2023, the plan aims to revise or formulate more than 30 standards related to smart manufacturing in the building materials sector, cultivate five information‑technology and intelligent‑manufacturing service providers each with annual revenues exceeding 100 million yuan, establish five innovation platforms for smart manufacturing in the building materials industry, develop 15 comprehensive system solutions, achieve breakthroughs in 50 key common technologies for smart manufacturing in the building materials field, and foster 100 building materials‑industry apps. Additionally, the plan seeks to select six benchmark enterprises in smart manufacturing and build 50 smart factories within the building materials industry.
